About Morrinsville site
Morrinsville has been home to Evonik New Zealand’s only Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) production plant for 29 years.
Hydrogen peroxide, an environmentally-friendly oxidizing and bleaching agent, is used predominantly in the pulp and paper, textile, metalliferous mining and food industry sectors. In addition to hydrogen peroxide, the plant also manufactures a high quality down-stream product, peracetic acid, which is used as an industrial disinfectant.
We employ around 30 full-time staff and many local contractors. Our plant is owned and operated by Evonik Peroxide Ltd. It has been operating safely since it opened in 1990. Every day we strive to meet the highest safety and compliance standards. Under New Zealand's 2016 Health and Safety at Work Regulations, we are classified as a "Major Hazard Facility". This classification is related to the chemical nature of our production work.
